Nuestro ultimo dia de turismo fue muy interesante y estuvo lleno de distintas actividades. En primer lugar, en el mod a el club de teatro del colegio hizo para nosotros el primer acto de la representacion teatral que iba a presentar esta misma noche. Era una comedia, con un elenco muy bueno, compuesto por en un grupo de actores y dos miembros del staff tecnico. Despues, el dia de clases siguio naturalmente hasta el final del segundo periodo de clases, momento en el cual todos los argentinos nos dirigimos a la oficina principal y nos subimos rapidamente al colectivo que nos llevaria hasta el Planetario y el 'Field Museum'. Los dos lugares fueron muy educativos, pero como siempre hubo partes que fueron mejores que otras. Por ejemplo, en el Planetario vimos un video 3D de 360 grados de nuestro sistema solar, nuestra galaxia y muchas partes del universo. Por otro lado, en el museo habia una exhibicion de mamiferos raros que se habian desarrollado en los mamiferos actuales. Esta fue reveladora, porque vi muchas cosas inimaginables y nuevas para mi. Cuando llegamos al colegio me busco Ryan y su papa en auto. Apenas llegamos a la casa, nos fuimos de nuevo de la casa a Starbucks, donde tomamos el te con amigos. De vuelta en la casa se quedaron un rato mas, terminando la tarde muy bien. Despues empeze a empacar para el tristemente rapido viaje de vuelta y tambien estudiar para un oral sobre un aspecto de la vida argentina que tengo que dar manana.

November, 8th, 2012

Our last tour day was really interesting and full of activities. In mod a the school's theatre club showed us the first act of the play they were going to play this night. It was a comedian play, with an awesome cast, based on a number of actors and two members of the staff. Then the class day was common until the end of mod b,  moment in which we all went to the main office. Thereupon, we got on the bus and left towards the Planetarium and the Field Museum. They were both definitively good. The parts I liked more about these places were a 360 grades 3D video about our galaxy, solar system and the whole universe in the planetarium. Furthermore, an exhibition about the extreme mammals from which many others come from was really amazing and surprising. When we arrived at the school, i was picked up by Ryan and his father. As soon as we got home, we went with some friends to Starbucks to have tea altogether. Back home, they all stayed for a while while the hung out continued at our house. Then I began packing up for the sadly quick trip back to Argentina and I also had to study for an oral about an aspect of Argentinian life i will have to present tomorrow at class.

Ya que esta semana tenemos tres salidas de clase mas tempranas, el dia de hoy no fue una excepcion. Durante el mod a nos ensenaron la musica americana mediante un video que las nombraba y tres mujeres que cantaron una clase cada una. Despues jugamos a bailar con la musica hasta que esta se paraba y debiamos parar de movernos hasta que empezara de nuevo. El dia de clases continuo como es normal hasta el fin del mod c, momento en el cual nos fuimos todos a la sala de reuniones de la oficina principal. El hermano Patrick nos dirigio unas ultimas palabras y nos dio unos regalos del colegio comp despedida, porque se iba al dia siguiente a Nueva York hasta el domingo, dia en el cual si todo sale como lo planeado vamos a estar de nuevo en casa. Luego partimos hacia el acuario de la ciudad de Chicago. Cuando llegamos leandro nos entrego tres entradas: una para la exhibicion, otra del show acuatico y la ultima de un documental en 4-D, el cual fue muy interesante. Ademas, tuvimos tiempo para ver tranquilamente casa parte de la exhibicion de animales acuaticos. Cuando llegamos de vuelta al colegio despues de pasar por mucho trafico, se organizo ir al mall Oakbrook y a comer a The Cheesecake Factory. La mama de Maureen me llevo y trajo de vuelta junto con Lope, Tincho, Ryan, Maureen y su hermana. Aunque no pudimos comprar muchas cosas, la comida en el restaurante fur muy recomendable y agradable con amigos.

November, 7th, 2012

As it will be three times these week, we had a short class day since after mod c we has to be at the meeting room of the main office. The day started in mod a with a class on american music. We saw a video that numbered the three main kinds of music. Then, 3 girls sang each one different type a capella. When they finished, we played freezesong with the american girls and then some of al of us danced for themselves in the middel of everyone. The day class was normal afterwards. As soon as we gathered brother patrick had a brief talk with us as he was leaving to New York the following day and coming back on Sunday, so he wouldnt see us again. He gave everyone another present from the school and then we left towards this day's excursion: the aquarium. There, we were given three entrace tickets by Leandro: for the exhibition, an aquatic show and a 4-D movie, which was pretty good. We had lots of time to see every single part of the exhibit. I defiantly had a great time during the tour along the aquarium. When we got to the school after heavy traffic, going to the oakbrook mall and eating in the Cheesecake Factory were organised. Maureen's mum took me, Ryan, Lope, Tincho, Maureen and her sister to such place, although it was a half an hour trip, and back home also. Even though we couldnt do much shopping, dinner was really tasty at the restaurant.

Una vez mas, el dia de hoy fue uno de los mas raros porque tuvimos dos mods de clases. Como es usual, en  el mod a nos ensenaron otro aspecto de la vida estadounidense. El tema de hoy, como ese dia iban a hacer una votacion falsa, fue la politica. Siete juniors y seniors (de los ultimos dos anos de colegio) fueron a la sala de reuniones de la oficina principal y nos dijeron quienes era su candidatos preferidos, lo cual fue justificado con una idea que respetaba ese candidato. Despues, un debate, el cual fue muy interesante, empezo entre los alumnos acerca de educacion, salud, economia y politica exterior. Ademas, podiamos hacerles preguntas acerca del debate o del tema en cuestion. Despues este periodo termino y llegamos por primera vez a tiempo a la sala de homeroom. Mi ultima clase del dia fue espanol, en la que fuimos al salon trasero de la biblioteca para practicar distintos tipos de vocabulario. Como nos ibamos rapido a un museo que quedaba en el centro, nos cambiamos casi todos en un bano para no ir con la ropa de colegio al Museo de Ciencia y Industria. Este ultimo estaba basicamente compuesto por los adelantos tecnologicos a lo largo de la historia. Cuando finalmente llegamos de vuelta al colegio a las 2 de la tarde, almorzamos, accion que resulto distinta al ultimo tiempo porque estabamos todos acostumbrados a comer mas temprano en el colegio, por ejemplo yo, que almuerzo a las 10 30 mas o menos. Despues, como Ryan tenia equipo academico, me quede con algunos argentinos y americanos un rato en los pasillos  del colegio y despues me fui a la clase de Ryan. Cuando esta termino, comimos algo, fuimos a las computadoras de la biblioteca y nos paso a buscar la hermana. Por otro lado, tambien nos enteramos quien habia ganado la eleccion falsa, mantenida dentro del colegio.

Once again, this day was one of the weirdest ones becuase we had just two mods of class, apart from homeroom. As usual, in mod a we were taught another aspect of the USA. Today's subject, since that day a fake votation was beign held in school, was politics. Seven juniors and seniors came over to the main office's meeting room and spoke about their favourite candidate and the reasons from which he had got to that position. Afterwards, they began a debate which was really interesting about some important themes in the election campaign: education, health, economy and foreign politics. Moreover, we could ask them questions about these debates or the themes. Then the period finished and we arrived correctly for the first time to homeroom. My last class was Spanish, that we went to the back room of the library to do some practise. Then, we almost all changed up in the bathroom next to the cafeteria and left for the Museum of Science and Industry downtown. This was composed mainly by technological advances throughout the history. When we finally got back to the school we ate lunch at 2 pm, whic was quite late because most of us was accustomed to having lunch earlier, for instance me, that i have my lunch period at 10 30 approximately. As Ryan had academic team it hung out in the school hallways with argentinians and americans and then went to his class. When he ended up, we had something to eat, went to the library and were picked up by his sister. Furthermore, we got to know which candidate had won the election in the school.

Mi primer y unico lunes de colegio en todo el viaje llego finalmente y fue realmente bueno. La mejor parte de el fue el mod A, en el cual el equipo de Danza del colegio, segundo en el estado, nos enseno un tipo de baile que ellas hacen. Las chicas estuvieron muy atentas e hicieron que el aprendizaje fuera menos dificil para todos. El dia de clases fue usual, sin ningun de cambio en el horario normal. Lo raro fue eque solo almorze una Gatorade, asi que cuando llegue a la casa me estaba muriendo de hambre. En el camino de vuelta a casa  dejamos a Mariano y a su host en su casa y despues pasamos por una estacion de servicio a comprar nafta y de paso compramos unos Slurpees, los cuales son unos batidos que probe por primera vez. Despues, de vuelta en casa, hable por primera vez por Skype con mi familia, aunque ya nos habiamos intercambiado 

e-mails y llamados por telefono, pero lo importante es que pude ver sus caras. Otra muy buena parte de este dia fue jugar con algunos alumnos del colegio en una liga en la que participan por diversion. Nos pidieron que jugaramos porque les faltaban jugadores, que no podian ir al partido. Perdimos por muchos goles, pero de todos modos fue una gran experiencia. Despues del partido, pasamos por el lugar donde trabaja la host de Jhony y compramos alitas de pollo con papas fritas para comer. Cuando finalmente llegue a casa y no tenia nada mas que hacer, escribi el blog de ayer, que no habia podido hacer por el cansancio, y hoy, y mi proxima tarea es irme a dormir. 

November, 5th, 2012

The first and unique Monday school in the whole trip finally arrived and it was realy good. The best part of it was mod A, in which we were taught an American dance by the school's Pom team, second best in the state. The girls were really attentive to us, helping the learning to be easier.The class day went as usual, with nothing out of the schedule. I just drink a Gatorade, so i was starving when we got home. On our way home, we left Mariano and his host, EmEm, by their home and then went to a gas station, where we bought some gas and Slurpees, which I tried for the first time of my life. Then, back at home, I talked by Skype to my whole family for the first time, even though I had talked to them by e-mail and phone, but anyway i got to see their faces. Another great part of the day was being able to go play soccer with some of the school guys who needed extra-players for a fun league. Though we lost by far too much, it was a great experience. After the game, we went to Julian;s host work place and bought some chicken wings and fries for dinner, which were really tasty. When i finally got home and had nothing else to do i took a shower, write both the blog from yesterday, which i hadnt written because i was tired, and today's and my next assigment is go to sleep.

Mi uso del domingo fue descansar para recuperarme del cansacio de la primera semana de colegio en USA. Despues de encontrarme en lo del host de Maniche, Kate, el sabado a la noche, la host de Euge, Morgan, me llevo en auto hasta lo de Ryan, la cual fue impresionante porque fue la primera vez que me llevo a algun lado alguien de mi edad aproximadamente. Cuando llegue a lo de Ryan charlamos un rato y despues nos fuimos a dormir. Ambos nos quedamos en la cama hasta entre las 11 y las 12, pero cuando nos encontramos en la cocina el dia empezo. El tenia que hacer mucha tarea asi que nos quedamos los dos en su casa. Mientras el hacia tarea yo usaba la computadora y  veia partes del partido de los Bears, el equipo de football americano de la ciudad, contra Tennessee. Fue un dia muy relajante, y a la noche estaba cansado aunque no habia hecho nada en todo el dia. Entonces, me fui a dormir a las 8 y me desperte con la alarma a las 6:45.

November, 4th, 2012

I used this sunday to recover from the tiredness of the first school week. After meeting the other argentinians at Maniche's host house, I was driven back home by Eugenio's host, Morgan, which was pretty amazing because it was the first time I was driven by a someone approximately my age. When i got to Ryan's, we had a little chat with and then went to sleep. We were both in bed until between 11 or 12 in the morning, so when we met at the kitchen the day began. He had to do homework, so I stayed at his house with him using the computer and seeing parts of the Bears, the american football city's team,  match against Tennessee. It was really a relaxing day and at night I was so tired although we hadnt done anything that i went to bed at 8 and woke up with the clock alarm at 6:45 am.

3 de Noviembre de 2012: Shopping

El primer sabado desde que llegamos llego finalmente y las actividades organizadas para dicho dia fueron respetadas. Nos encontramos en el colegio a las 10 y empezamos un largo viaje de una hora y media. Apenas llegamos a Michigan city, el punto de encuentro fue fijado y en el debiamos estar a las 3. Despues nos dieron libertad para decidir todo.. Mi grupo, compuesto por Yako, Porde, Jhony, Maureen, la host de Lope, y yo, recorrio muchos locales. Comimos en Subway, lo cual estuvo muy rico. El mismo grupo siguio el dia de compras, pero Kate, otra host, se nos unio para el corto periodo de despues de almorzar. Mientras estabamos en la cola del ultimo local, nos dimos cuenta que ya estabamos quince minutos tarde, asi que en cuanto terminamos corrimos hasta el colectivo por las calles del shopping. El viaje de vuelta fue mejor que el de la ida porque fue mas corto. Finalmente llegamos a la casa a a las 5 y organizamos la noche. Al final, fuimos a lo de la host de Maniche y nos encontramos con los casi todos los otros argentinos. La pasamos muy bien: jugamos basket, comimos comida china, vimos una pelicula y hablamos.

Noviembre, 3rd, 2012: Shopping

The first Saturday since we have got here finally arrived and the arranged schedule, followed, was go to Michigan city and do shopping all day long. We met at school at 10 am and began a long trip of an hour and a half. As soon as we got there, the meeting point was fixed for 3 o clock and we were given the freedom to decide everything. We went through many different shops in a group composed by Yako, Porde, Jhony, Maureen, Lope's host, and me. We ate at Subway, which was really tasty. The same group continued the shopping day, but Kate joined us for the short post-lunch period. As there was a long cue in the last shop, we realised we were fifteen minutes late already, so we started running like crazy people by the sidewalk to reducing the time we were getting delayed the bus. The trip back home was better than the journey there due to the fact it was shorter. We finally got home at apporximately 5 pm and organised the night. In the end, I went to Maniche's host house to meet the other hosts. We had a great time: we played basketball, had dinner, watch a movie and talked.

Una vez mas, tuvimos un dia raro de clases porque dejamos el colegio a la 1 de la tarde. Durante el mod a, periodo en el cual nos sacan siempre, nos ensenaron acerca de los deportes americanos. Ya conocia lo basico de casi todos ellos pero igual fue bueno para conocer mas. El dia siguio como lo es siempre hasta las 12, antes del fin de mod e, que el microfono escolar dijo que los argentinos se tenian  que encontrar en la cafeteria. Aunque ya sabia que esto iba a pasar, fue emocionandte ser nombrados y escuchados por toda la secundaria. Nos cambiamos y esperamos que el resto se terminara de cambiar. Cuando llegaron las 12 45 nos encontramos a la salida de la cafeteria, aunque ya estaba con casi todos, tuvimos un conversacion corta y partimos hacia navy pier. Apenas llegamos, un punto de encuentro fue arreglado y nos dieron libertad para manejarnos por nosotros mismos. Despues de esto, caminamos hacia michigan avenue y otra vez el profesor coloco un punto de encuentro en el cual teniamos que estar a cierta hora. Cuando el tiempo se termino, estabamos todos en el lugar indicado, una estatua, and fuimos al bote en el cual ibamos a hacer el viaje. Este viaje fue impresionante ya que atravesamos practicamente toda la ciudad y nos metimos de lleno en el lago Michigan. Saque muchas fotos hasta que mi maquina se quedo sin bateria. Mientras esperabamos que llegue el colectivo escolar, el cual llego una hora tarde, escuchamos a un baterista muy bueno en la calle que tocaba para ganar plata. Finalmente, el papa de Ryan me busco por el colegio y me llevo a la fiesta en la que estaba Ryan. Me diverti mucho y me asuste mucho tambien, porque los hermanos de la duena de casa tenian armas de aire comprimido y le disparaban a la gente. Cuando termino, nos fuimos a la casa con un amigo que se quedo a dormir, comimos algo y nos fuimos a dormir.

Noviembre, 2nd, 2012

Once again, we had a weird day of classes since we leaft school at 1 o clock at the afternoon. During the regular taken out from class of mod a, we were taught about american sports. I knew the basic things of almost all of them. The day continued as natural until 12 o clock, before the end of mod e, the speakerphone announced that the argentinian boys had to meet at the cafeteria. I already knew about this call, but it was interesting to be named and heard by all the school. We changed up and waited for everybody to be ready. When it was 12 45 we met outside de cafeteria, had a little conversation out of the school and departed for navy pier. As soon as we arrived, a meeting point was arranged and we had freedom to walk all by ourselves by the place. We did some sightseeing as well as some shopping. After this, we walked towards michigan avenue all together and once again the teacher assigned a meeting point in which we had to be in at a certain time. We strictly did shopping during this 1 hour and 45 minutes. When the time was up, we all were at the meeting point, a statue, and left for the boat we were going to have a ride on. This trip was awesome as we went through the whole city and into lake Michigan. I took lost of pictures until my camera run out of batery. While we were waiting for the school bus to pick us up, which was an hour delayed, we heard to a fantastic baterist who played on the street to earn some money. Finally, Ryan's father looked me at school and left me at a party in which Ryan was in. I had lots of fun and y was scared too, because the house owners brother's had air compressed guns and shot at the people who was there. When it was finished, we just went home with a friend who stayed over, had something to eat and went to sleep.

El tercer dia de clases fue el mas raro de todos los que estuve aca porque tuvimos misa. Entonces, cada clase fue acortada, pero esto es nuevo porque nosotros cada vez que tenemos misa perdemos horas de clase, no las acortamos. En el primer periodo nos ensenaron todo lo referido acerca del 'Campus Ministry', que es un grupo de alumnos que van a lugares devastados por la pobreza o algun accidente natural a ayudar a los ciudadanos de esos lugares. Despues le festejamos el cumpleanos a Martin y nos fuimos a clases. Despues de almorzar, casi pierdo a mi host y entro a una clase de Ingles de Sam, un jugador de futbol. Cuando termino el colegio fuimos a la casa de Ryan y mas tarde vinieron las gemelas y tuvimos un tarde increible.

November, 1st, 2012

The third day at class was the most rare one since we had to go to church. Therefore, every period was shorter, and that was new to me because when we have mass in Argentina we just loose some periods, not shorten them. Anyway, in mod a we were taught this day about Campus Ministry by some students. They had gone to different trips to help others who had suffered some natural attack or poverty. Afterwards, we had a little celebration for Martin's birthday. We went to classes and then to lunch. I almost lost my host going back to classes, but he found me before I got with Sam, a soccer player, into an English class. After school, we went to Ryan's home. The twins came over later and we had a great afternoon.

October, 31th, 2012: Halloween

Our second class day was even better than the first one. As soon as we got school we watch and were taught about halloween, which most of us new very little about. Spanish class was amazing since we had an easy quiz and we were made to try a wide range of peanut and butter types with bread, prepared by Mr. P, the teacher. I didnot eat much a lunch because I was kind of full, and this is akward for me as well as because our lunch time is 10 30, which is really early for me. Then, the day continued as usual until the end of classes that we bought candy for the trick or treat kids and afterwards 3 people came to Ryan's house. Finally, we went to Ryan's friend Lily's house to attend a halloween party she held, which was great.

31 de Octubre de 2012: Halloween

Nuestro segundo dia de clases fue mejor que el primero. Apenas llegamos al colegio nos mostraron y hablaron de halloween, fiesta de la cual todos sabiamos muy poco. La clase de espanol fue muy buena porque hice una prueba facil para mi y el profesor, Mr.  P,  nos dio a mi y a lope para probar diferentes clases de mantequillas de mani con pan. Por esto, estuve lleno a la hora del almuerzo, las 10 30, muy temprano para mi, y almorze poco, raro para mi tambien. El dia siguio como lo es usualmente hasta el fin de clases, que fuimos a comprar caramelos y chocolates para los chicos que tocaban el timbre de la casa. Despues, 3 personas vinieron a lo de Ryan y desde ahi nos fuimos a la casa de una amiga de Ryan, Lily, que hizo una fiesta por halloween, la cual fue muy divertida.

30 de Octubre de 2012: Primer Dia de Clases

En el primer dia de clases empezamos tarde, a las 8 am. Apenas llegamos fuimos a la sala de conferencias de la oficina principal para un desayuno de bienvenida organizado por el colegio. Ahi estabamos los hosts, todos los argentinos y algunos miembros del staff americano. Despues de desayunar, cada profesor de Espanol dijo unas palabras y seguido de ellos todos los estudiantes estadounidenses presentaron a su huesped y nos dieron un regalo.
Cuando la reunion termino, fuimos a la oficina de una asistente con el objetivo de hacer nuestras tarjetas de identificacion para pagar el almuerzo. La primera clase a la que asisti fue homeroom por diez minutos hasta que fue tiempo de ir a la clase de Espanol. A esta clase la siguio Civilisation Occidental y despues llego el almuerzo. Cuando terminamos con este, tuve Geometria, Arte, Religion y Quimica. Finalmente, el partido de futbol llego y el gimnasio del colegio se lleno rapidamente. Nos separamos en dos equipos y el partido empezo. Fue un partido muy bueno y lo disfrute mucho. Espero que tengamos otro antes de volver a casa. Ganamos 6 a 5 y yo hice dos goles.
Fue una experiencia muy buena estar en un colegio norteamericano por primera vez.

October, 30th, 2012: First Day at School

This first school morning we had a late start at 8 am. As soon as we arrived we went to the meeting's room of the main office to have a welcome breakfast including hosts, guests, our argentinian company and some american members of the staff. After having breakfast, each Spanish teacher said a few words to us and then all the hosts introduced their guests to everybody as well as gave us a present.
When that meeting had finished, we were told to go to one of the asistant's office so as to get our id cards to pay for lunch. Then, we went to the homeroom for ten minutes until it was time to go to the Spanish class. After this one, we had Western civilisation, followed by lunch. When this activity was finished, we went to Geomertry, Art, Religion and at last Chemistry. Finally, the soccer game arrived and the school's small gym quickly was full. We divided into to teams and the match began. It was a good game and I really enjoyer it. I hope there is another one before we leave. Argentina won 6 to 5 and I scored twice.
All in all, it was truly really interesting being at an American school for the first time!

Como no teníamos colegio por la reunión de padres y profesores, se organizo un tour para el que había que estar todos en el colegio a las 11.

Salimos hacia el centro de la ciudad y nuestro primer lugar turístico fue la Willis Tower, construida en 1973 y la más alta por 25 anos. La vista desde el piso 103 fue impresionante pero lo mejor fueron los balcones de vidrio desde los cuales podías ver el piso y las personas con el tamaño de hormigas caminando. Comí en Mc Donald's con todos los argentinos  y algunos de los hosts que nos estaban acompañando en el tour y después fuimos a hacer las primeras compras bastante juntos.

A las 3 nos encontramos en un punto fijo y salimos para el parque Milennium donde había una fuente. Cerca de este estaba una judía gigante de metal donde te podías ver reflejado. Ya cansados después de tanto caminar y con la luz del día esfumándose, nos subimos de nuevo al School Bus y volvimos al colegio, por donde me busco Ryan con su hermana de 21 anos y un amigo de Ryan. En su casa nos esperaban otra vez amigas que se quedaron a comer pero se fueron temprano y también su amigo porque mañana tenemos que ir al colegio, aunque la entrada es más tarde de lo habitual, a las 8, y a esa hora estamos invitados a un desayuno de bienvenida. Las cosas más excitantes de mañana son el partido de futbol en el que vamos a jugar argentinos contra el primer equipo estadounidense del colegio después de clases y el hecho de poder ver un día de colegio de un adolecente norteamericano.

As we didn’t have to go to school due to the parents teachers meeting, a tour was organized for us which we had to be at school at 11 am. Our first target was Willis Tower and its most amazing part was the sky deck at the 103^rd floor, from where we could see people as tiny as ants walking in the street. All the Argentinians and some of the hosts who had come with us ate at McDonald’s. Later, we did our first shopping pretty much together.

At 3 o clock we met at a fixed spot and walked towards Millennium Park, where there was a fountain. Near this park, we went to a giant metal Bean where you could see yourself reflected. Already tired from so much walking and the daylight going away, we got on the School Bus again and it took us to the school, from where Ryan picked me up with a friend and his 21 year-old sister sitting at the wheel. At his house friends were already waiting for us again and they stayed for a pizza dinner. When we finished it, they all left because tomorrow we are all going to have school, even though we have a late arrival as well as a welcome breakfast as soon as we get to school. The most interesting facts about tomorrow’s day is that I am going to see an American’s school day for the first time and also a match against the school’s first team at a gym after classes.

Llegue a la casa, me la mostraron y después deje mi bolso en mi cuarto, enorme y con cama doble. Ryan me hizo probar el sándwich de mantequilla de maní y mermelada, que estuvo muy bueno. Un rato después llegaron a su casa dos amigas y nos fuimos a comprar cosas estadounidensas que nunca había probado. Llevo un rato, pero valió la pena.

Cuando volvimos estuvimos en su cuarto hablando hasta que el papa de Ryan nos ofreció acompañarlo al supermercado. Era enorme y tenía cualquier cantidad de cosas y variedades. Cargamos el auto y volvimos a la casa. Me ensenaron donde estaba cada cosa mientras guardábamos todo y volvimos al cuarto de Ryan, donde nos quedamos hasta que estuvo lista la comida. Comimos pollo con puré, todo preparado por el papa de Ryan, y estuvo muy rico. Después de terminar de comer volvimos a subir al cuarto de Ryan y ahí nos quedamos hasta que se fueron todas sus amigas. En ningún momento estuve cansado a pesar del largo viaje. Mi día finalmente termino cuando me fui a mi cuarto a dormir. 

October, 28th, 2012

I arrived at Ryan’s house, I was showed around and I left my luggage at my room. Afterwards, Ryan made try the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which was very good. A while later, two of his friends got here and we went to Walgreen’s so as to buy some American candies I had to try. It took a while, but it was worth it. When we came back to his house we stayed at his room chatting until Ryan’s father offered us to go with him to the supermarket. This place was huge and had a wide range and quantity of stuff in display.

We paid, charged the bags in the car and left for the house. When we arrived, I was taught where each thing was while we saved everything up. When we finished this activity we went back to Ryan’s room until dinner was ready. We ate chicken with mashed potatoes prepared by his father and it was really good. As soon as everyone finished once again we went into his room and hung out for a while until his friends left. My day was finally over when I got to bed and fall asleep.

Las acciones siguientes al aterrizaje fueron hacer aduanas, buscar y dejar las valijas, Tomar el tren hasta la puerta embarque y comprar algunas cosas para comer de nuevo. Como el avión se retraso subimos media hora tarde y despegamos el mismo tiempo mas tarde también.

Apenas subimos en el avión y termino el despegue, me quede dormido pero me desperté mas tarde y como no pude dormir empeze a mirar por la ventana, jugar al IPod y escuchar música.

El vuelo se me paso bastante rápido, y en un abrir y cerrar de ojos ya estábamos bajando otra vez. Cuando llegamos buscamos las valijas y salimos a sorprendernos con el frio chicaguense. Todos automáticamente nos abrigamos porque veníamos de 30 grados en argentina y mucho calor en los aviones y aeropuertos. Igual, la mejor sorpresa fue nuestro transporte hasta el colegio, donde nos esperaban las familias: el tradicional School Bus! Pusimos las valijas en el fondo y partimos hacia el colegio. A medida que pasaba el tiempo, los nervios aumentaban. Entramos al colegio, dejamos las valijas, y entramos a la cafetería, donde nos esperaban todas las familias hospedadoras desde hacia un rato. La peor parte de todo esto fue que yo fui el primero en presentarme e ir con mi Ryan y su papa.

The actions that followed landing were doing customs, looking and leaving the luggage, taking the train towards the departure lounge and buying some more stuff to eat. As the airplane was delayed, so did the departure.

As soon as we got on the plane and the take-off ended up, I fell asleep and woke up an hour before landing, which I spent sightseeing through the window and playing games  as well as listening to music at the IPod. The flight finished very quickly. Thereupon, we looked for the luggage and went out to be surprised by Chicago’s cold morning. This last fact was expected, but after being at 86 in Argentina and inside warm airplanes and airports, is was shocking.

Anyway, the biggest surprise hadn’t hit us yet: our transport was going to be the traditional School Bus! We put the luggage at the back and went to the school, where the host families were waiting for us. As time passed, nerves grew too. We entered the school, left the luggage and got in the cafeteria where the host families had been waiting for us for a while. The worst part of this was that I had to be the first one to introduce and go with my host family.

Nos juntamos en el aeropuerto de Ezeiza a las 5 de la tarde y a medida que fuimos llegando cada uno hizo el check-in por separado. Cuando terminamos esperamos que el resto hiciera lo mismo  y sacamos las últimas fotos en Argentina. Subimos las escaleras y rápidamente pasamos el segundo puesto de seguridad. El movimiento siguiente fue pasar aduanas, aunque otros tuvieron que declarar algunas cosas. Migraciones fue fácil para algunos, contándome entre ellos, aunque a otros les revisaron meticulosamente el permiso para viajar solos. Terminado la parte de trámites del sábado, fuimos al free shop, donde nos compramos algunas cosas para comer antes de subir en el avión. Un ratito antes de subir al avión fuimos a la sala de espera y charlamos hasta que nos llamaron para abordar el avión.

Primero nos acomodamos en el avión según los asientos designados pero después algunos, no yo, se cambiaron de lugar para estar todos más juntos. Yo viaje con fonte, euge, el chelo y lope en mi fila, en ese orden y conmigo en una punta, y yassi, pilar, jhony, yako y porde en la de atrás. Alex, maniche, mariano, rad y tincho estaban mas al fondo en el avión.

Las conversaciones no tardaron en llegar acompañadas por los juegos de las pantallas pero el hambre estaba muy presente en la mayoría, incluyéndome. Aproximadamente a las 10 nos sirvieron la comida. Las opciones eran pollo o carne con arroz, acompañado con ensalada, agua, una bebida a elección, pan, galletitas de agua, manteca, queso untable y un paquete de galletitas. Yo me decidí por la carne. Mi decisión fue buena, pero los que eligieron pollo también dijeron que estaba bueno.

En este momento el cuerpo me dijo necesitas descansar, así que me acosté y dormí un rato. Cuando me desperté vi ‘El fantástico Hombre-Arana’. A las 3 nos sirvieron un desayuno compuesto de jugo de naranja, ensalada de frutas, nuevamente una bebida a elección, una medialuna y manteca. Cuando lo terminamos estaba el aterrizaje muy cerca así que muchos nos pusimos a ver en la pantalla la opción de datos del vuelo. Aterrizamos poco después de las 4.

We met at 5pm at the Ezeiza airport and began checking-in for the flight as soon as we got there. As soon as everyone finished we took our final pictures at Argentina. We went up the stairs and quickly went through the second security position. The next movement was passing migrations by, although some of our group had to declare some stuff. Migrations were easy for most of us, but some had some their travelling permits read almost completely. After having finished the paper work we just hung out at the free shop, where some of us bought some food to eat before we got on the plane. A little while before getting on the plane, we went to the departure lounge and chatted until we were told to get on the plane.

Firstly, we distributed on our arranged seats, but some changed themselves so that we would be closer to each other. I travelled in the hallway next to fonte, euge, Agustin and lope, in that order. Just behind us yassi, pilar, jhony, yako and porde were sitting down.

As the conversations started to flow again and the games began, we waited for the plane to take off and, most importantly, have our dinner served. This last thing happened approximately at 10 in the night. We were offered meat or chicken with rice, accompanied by salad, bread, crackers, butter, cheese, water, a drink of our choice and some cookies as a dessert. My choice of meat was really good, although the ones had picked chicken said it was enjoyable as well.

At that moment, my body told me you got to sleep! Therefore, I slept for a while. When I woke up I saw ‘The fantastic Spider-Man’. Later, at 3 in the morning, our breakfast based on orange juice, fruit salad, once again a drink of our choice, a crescent and butter. As soon as we finished it landing was so close we started watching at the flights information on our screens. Finally, we landed after 4 in the morning.
